We are excited to invite you to the Canadian Association on Gerontology (CAG) 2024 conference, taking place October 24-26 in Edmonton, Alberta. This year’s event promises to be a gathering of thought leaders, researchers, and professionals dedicated to advancing the field of gerontology.
DATE lab is hosting a symposium: Cognitive Accessibility at work, rest and play(11.00-12.30, October 26th). This symposium includes four presentations exploring cognitive accessibility across multiple aspects of daily life, with Dr Virginie Cobigo as the discussant.
Erica will be presenting her insightful researches at CAG 2024
Also at CAG, DATE lab Doctoral student Erica Dove is presenting some of her research with a presentation on how rehabilitation clinicians approach balance in people living with dementia. Erica’s poster, titled "How do rehabilitation clinicians address balance impairments and concerns about falling in dementia?" delves into a critical yet underexplored area of dementia care. Her study highlights the heightened risk of falls among individuals living with dementia, largely due to poor balance and fears of falling.
Her another upcoming presentation, titled "Considering cognitive accessibility when co-designing exercise video games for people with dementia," focuses on the potential of exercise video games, or "exergames," as tools for delivering physical rehabilitation to individuals with dementia.
Other DATE lab projects being presented at CAG include how cognitive impairment impacts task sequencing, plus findings from the AGE-WELL funded Cog@work project. Specifically the presentation looks at how technology supports accessible workplaces for employees with MCI or Young Onset Dementia.
