DATE Lab Chats: A Day in the Life

In past newsletters, we have showcased various presentations at conferences and recent publications from our lab members but we have not shown all the work that goes into these amazing projects!

This month, we sat down with one of our lab member Maria Acenas to chat about what it is like to work as a lab analyst at the DATE lab!

What project are you currently working on?

Right now I am mainly involved with the RESILIEN-T project.

Describe the project!

RESILIEN-T is an app we developed using a touchscreen tablet to support people with cognitive impairments with goal setting and managing meaningful daily activities. The app takes into account the user’s interests, hobbies, and goals, and they can use it as part of their daily routine

What does a regular workday look like for you right now?

Lots and lots of phone calls! My day consists of onboarding new participants, doing tablet demonstrations, and tablet drop-offs, checking in on current participants, and contacting potential participants to join our study. On other days I spend time writing my manuscript.

What is your favourite part of working on this project?

I really enjoy working with participants and getting to know them on a personal level!
