How do older adults with and without cognitive impairment complete everyday activities?

  • This study looks at how older adults, both with and without cognitive impairments, manage everyday tasks like filling a kettle or peeling a potato, which involve both physical and mental efforts.

  • Cognitive decline can make these activities harder, leading to a loss of independence and a greater need for care.

  • By understanding how these tasks are completed, the study aims to find ways to help older adults maintain their independence and improve their quality of life, potentially delaying the need for family members to step in and provide care.

Data Collection

  • We collect data by using eye-tracking glasses, a watch that measures physiological responses, and video recordings while people do their tasks.

  • We analyze all this information with special software (Noldus Observer XT). We're also conducting interviews before and after the activities to understand personal backgrounds and individual differences.
