Alzheimer's Association International Conference 2022
The Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC) is the world's largest forum for the dementia research community. This conference aims to bring together clinical researchers, clinicians, trainees and individuals from the care research community to share scientific breakthroughs and new interventions in the field of dementia. Hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association, this year’s conference took place virtually and in San Diego California from July 31- August 4.
Each year, we are proud to showcase the work done at DATE lab at this conference and this year was no different. Both current and former lab members and collaborators presented their projects at this year’s conference under the sessions of Dementia Care and Psychosocial Factors–– scroll down to learn more! Describe your project for me!
Keeping cognitively active is important for people living with dementia or MCI, but finding engaging activities can be difficult. This study explored whether cognitive domains (ie. complex attention) are engaged when people living with dementia or MCI play mainstream digital tablet games.
What was your favourite part about presenting at AAIC2022?
I enjoyed hearing what questions the public had regarding my project, as it was really interesting to see which parts of the project stood out when people viewed my project for the first time.
How do you hope your project will contribute to the field of dementia research?
I hope my project contributes to this field by increasing the availability and accessibility of cost-effective resources for those with dementia and MCI!
Is there any advice you can give to students nervous to present at a large conference?
Remember that you have become quite knowledgeable on your topic through your research and therefore you are qualified to speak about your project!
