CCNA 2022
The Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging (CCNA) is a network of clinicians and researchers throughout Canada with the goal of accelerating progress in research on age-related neurodegenerative diseases.
The annual CCNA ‘Partners Forum and Science Days’ was held this past October 11-14 and welcomed CCNA members, trainees, partners, and lived experience advisors to attend free of charge to learn, discuss, and connect. This year is the third year in a row the event was held entirely online.
PhD student Erica Dove, was invited to present some of her thesis work at this year’s conference. Here is what she had to say about her project:
People with dementia are at a higher risk of falls due to poor balance and concerns about falling. Exercise can improve people with dementia’s balance, but less is known about using exercise to reduce their concerns about falling. A literature review was conducted to understand exercise programs used to help people with dementia who have concerns about falling to advise future program design.
