At the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC), research titled "Supporting Everyday Cognition: Home Technology Tours with People Living with Dementia," conducted by Dr. Arlene Astell, was presented. This study delves into the use of current off-the-shelf technologies by individuals living with dementia and reveals insightful findings that challenge prevailing myths about their engagement with technology.

Dr. Astell and her team conducted Technology Tours and interviews in the homes of nine individuals living with dementia. As participants guided researchers through each room, they shared details about the technologies they used, their purposes, and how they acquired these devices.

The findings highlight that people living with dementia actively use various technologies to support their everyday cognition. This evidence is significant in challenging myths about the interest and ability of people living with dementia to use technology.
